Break Free

A 7-day plan for anyone who wants to break a habit. Jesus as the starting point, then the next plain step. Porn, the phone, gaming, alcohol, a substance, or another loop.

  1. Trigger

Notice the hour or feeling that starts the habit.

  2. Routine

Name the habit in one word. Do not dress it up.

  3. Reward

Decide the first ten minutes you will do instead.

Break Free is the open course. Seven practical lessons. Anyone can read them, men and women.

The habit does not matter so much. Porn, the phone, gaming, alcohol, a substance, or another loop. The root is often the same. We reach for it when we feel empty, bored, ashamed, or tired. And then we feel worse. So we reach for it again.

Basically, this course is not about white knuckling your way through 30 days. It is about getting free on the inside, so the outside follows. Jesus first. Then the next plain step.

The 7 lessons

They are in order on purpose. Read them one at a time.

  1. How to Break the Habit for Good
Where it really starts. Not with willpower, but with who you are now.

  2. Building a New Default
Recovery is the ordinary week. Identity, a schedule, and one honest friend.

  3. How to Quit the Whole Habit, Not Half of It
Close the loophole. Quit the whole habit, not half of it.

  4. Why Do I Keep Going Back?
Look at the trigger instead of blaming yourself again.

  5. How to Deal With an Urge in the First Ten Minutes
An urge is not a command. Here is what to do when it comes.

  6. Shame and the Loop: How to Break It
Shame keeps the loop alive. Jesus already dealt with it.

  7. How to Reset Your Mind from a Habit
Renewal is real. Your mind can be made new. Step by step.

The 30-day plan

These 7 lessons are open on the site. Start there.

The full 30-day PDF, all the days together, comes by email. Put in your email and it lands in your inbox. No tricks. Just the plan, so you can walk it out day by day.

My honest word to you

Don’t let what you are going through become your identity. You are not “the person who can’t stop.” You are a child of God. A new creation. The habit is something you do. It is not who you are.

So we start there. Grace first, then the next plain step.
