- Trigger
Notice the hour or feeling that starts the habit.
- Routine
Name the habit in one word. Do not dress it up.
- Reward
Decide the first ten minutes you will do instead.
Paul said it short. “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)
I love this verse because the last line changes everything. Strength without love is not strength.
Before we start, let me say this. This is not about shaming you. I am not here to tell you that you are weak. If you are tired, if you messed up, grace is where we start. Jesus already did the work. You are not reading this to earn anything. You are reading this to remember who you are.
Basically, a strong person is not the loud one. It is the one who stays when it gets hard, and loves when it would be easier to close off. Some steps here talk about loving your wife. If you are a woman, the same heart works the other way around. So this is for you too.
Lessons
- Lesson 1Bend the Knee FirstStanding firm does not start with trying harder. It starts with admitting you need Jesus and letting Him lead.
- Lesson 2Stay On The WallBeing watchful means you stand on the wall for the people God gave you. This week we look at what takes you off the wall, and how grace puts you back.
- Lesson 3You Are Not Fighting ThemThe fight is real, but the enemy is not the person in front of you. This week we learn to stand, and to fight for the people God gave us.
- Lesson 4Strong Means You Go LowThe world tells you strength is about power and position. Jesus shows us the strongest man is the one who lays his life down for others.
- Lesson 5Love Her FirstJesus loved the church first, and He gave Himself up for her. Basically, that is the whole calling in one verse. This is about how we love the people closest to us.
- Lesson 6Let Love Be the Strong PartStanding firm and acting strong means nothing if love is missing. Real love is not a feeling, it is your joy in Jesus given to people at a cost to yourself.
